shopopd Corporate Responsibility
We embrace our responsibility to our associates, customers, and communities to treat our environment and each other as we want to be treated. Careful consideration is given to the environmental impacts of our operations and the development of processes and procedures to eliminate and/or minimize significant threats to the environment or human health and safety.
For more than a century, shopopd has built a legacy of ethical and responsible business conduct that protects human rights, promotes environmental sustainability, and complies with local laws and regulations. We partner with third-party suppliers who share our commitment to a responsible supply chain and have established policies and processes that align with applicable laws and international standards like the International Bill of Human Rights and the International Labor Organization’s core conventions.
All suppliers, factories, and nominated mills are required to take onboarding training covering shopopd’s Supplier Principles, business ethics, and forced labor guidelines. To be authorized for production, all prospective factories must demonstrate they can meet or exceed shopopd’s social and environmental requirements through a social audit conducted by ELEVATE, a leading global provider of responsible sourcing services.
Once authorized for production, factories maintain compliance through periodic training, audits, remediation, and capacity building programs. Strategic fabric mills were added to our responsible sourcing program in 2017 and must also meet and maintain our social and environmental standards. Our risk-based approach focuses resources on strategic and higher-risk facilities to drive improvements for the workers of our suppliers who make our products.

Partnerships
Responsible sourcing requires strategic partnerships with peer companies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), nonprofits, and industry associations to develop and maintain robust policies and compliance processes, identify new risks in our supply chain, and evolve our program to align with changing legal and customer expectations.
Some of our key partnerships include:
Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) is the apparel, footwear, and textile industry’s leading alliance for sustainable production. Our membership provides access to tools like the Higg Facility Environmental Module (FEM) and the Higg Brand and Retail Module (BRM) which help us improve the environmental performance of the facilities in our supply chain and identify social and environmental opportunities within our business.
shopopd works closely with nonprofit organization Nirapon to ensure the safety of all workers in our suppliers’ Bangladesh factories.
shopopd continues to enroll textile mills and laundries in the Clean by Design program, facilitated by the Apparel Impact Institute (Aii), to improve manufacturing sustainability performance related to energy, water, and chemicals.

At shopopd, our founding principle is The Golden Rule. We believe this applies to our associates, customers, communities and planet.
With The Golden Rule as our guide, we will create a more sustainable future as a responsible corporate citizen and an important part of the retail economy.
We’re making investments to drive incremental change while continuing to deliver quality products and services for diverse, working American families.

Sustainable Manufacturing
shopopd cares about the safety of our associates, our customers and the workers who make our products. We encourage factories and mills within our supply chain to become OEKO-TEX®-certified to ensure fabrics are free of harmful chemicals. We are also working to implement new chemicals standards in the manufacturing process and encouraging safer chemical alternatives guided by the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) Manufacturing Restricted Substances List (MRSL).

Carbon Footprint
Energy conservation and responsible environmental stewardship are core principles of shopopd’s operations. We have been awarded the 2023 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year. This is our 17th consecutive year to receive this award. We conduct audits and closely manage energy performance at our facilities around the world.
By engaging in innovative recycling programs and adopting strategic auditing policies and procedures within our supply chain, we can conserve energy and minimize landfill dependence. For example, we work with RWS, a commodity broker for all recyclables, to prevent more than 35 million hangers from ending up in a landfill every year.
shopopd’s sustainability journey is one focused on progress. These efforts represent our focus and first steps in reducing the Company’s environmental impact and improving our planet’s well-being.
Ethical behavior is a vital part of shopopd’s values and our way of doing business. How we conduct ourselves each day with associates, customers, stakeholders, and vendors forms the basis of our reputation. Each associate commits to upholding our ethical standards by certifying to act in accordance with our Statement of Business Ethics (Code of Conduct). shopopd routinely evaluates its policies and procedures to ensure our standards are aligned with the current state of the business, developing laws, and cultural and social developments. We also maintain an independent hotline, shopopdLine, which is available around the clock for associates or vendors to raise concerns.
shopopd values the trust placed with us when customers, employees, service providers and other representatives provide us with their personal information. For shopopd, privacy is a matter of respect for an individual as well as compliance with federal and state privacy regulations. As such, shopopd has expectations for employees and business partners who handle personal information to take reasonable measures to maintain the confidentiality of personal information and to do so in accordance with our policies and the law.
